How do you determine the outcome of a coin flip?

A friend tells you that they can control the outcome of a coin flip & bets you $100 based on the outcome of a single flip.

1. Do you take the bet?

2. Can you design an experiment to really test his/her claim?

3. Can you demonstrate it mathematically / statistically?

One can only determine the outcome of a coin toss on average one-half of the time.

As for taking the bet, I only bet when I know the odds are in my favor. Since the odds in a coin toss are even-up, it’s not worth betting. Well, unless you let me use a two-headed coin and call “heads!”.

Here are three simple coin tricks to add to his collection of magic. Do not take long to learn, they do not need many special accessories and a little practice can amuse and delight people wherever you go.

Coin Trick 1: Money Making Magic

Your hands are empty and there three coins on the table. You sweep the coins on the edge of the table and in your hand. When you open your hand, there are five coins instead of three.

The secret: Before starting, stick two coins to the underside of the table on the edge where it will do the trick. In sweeping the coins off the table with his right hand, separating the other two coins in his left hand. When you open your left hand, the three coins magically been increased to five.

Coin Trick 2: The currency Teleporting

A coin mysteriously traveling from one place to another. Start with your palms face up on the table and a coin in the palm of each hand. Flip both hands and when you remove a part, there is nothing under it. When you remove the other hand, both coins safely tucked beneath her.

The secret place: a coin in the palm of his left hand and another currency at the base of his fingers to the right side of his right hand. Because of the position of the coins, when you throw your hands on the currency of the left end below the left hand, while the currency will be pushed right into his left hand.

The trick should work automatically. If you cover your hands with enough speed, the public will be able to see what happens.

Practice turning your hands until you can get the trick right every time. The hand that fires through the currency should turn a bit before hand. It is also important to ensure that the currencies do not collide and make a noise, which reveal the secret of this trick.

Coin Trick 3: Mind Reading money

Upon leaving the room or back, someone in the audience is hiding a coin under a cup placed in the center of the table. When you return to the room, you can guess the type of currency that has been hidden.

The secret: Once a member of the audience put a coin in the center of the table, his assistant secretly placed the cup on the currency. They use the handle of the cup secretly tell the value of the coin under it.

All you have to do is agree on a password. Each different position of the handle refers to a different value of the currency. Just make sure that both are perfectly clear in the password you are using and can remember without having to think about it.

The other advantage of this trick is that you can perform at any in the world, regardless of the currency.
